A study on the use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) waste as partial substitute to aggregate in concrete

Concrete is commonly composed of fine and coarse aggregates, cement, water and sometimes admixtures. The cost of these components is rising especially cement and aggregate, hence producing concrete is becoming expensive. This study aims to study the behavior of concrete with a different kind of comp...

The cost of these components is rising especially cement and aggregate, hence producing concrete is becoming expensive. This study aims to study the behavior of concrete with a different kind of composition. Researchers are done with the hope of finding new materials to be added or substituted to a concrete mix. These researchers have various objectives such as to reduce cost and hopefully improve its properties and characteristics. The proposal plans to study the behavior of concrete with a waste material as a partial substitute to aggregate in concrete. %The study uses polyvinyl chloride (PVC) waste as a partial substitute aggregate in concrete. PVC is a type of polymer that is widely used for manufacturing conduits. The study is centered on the experiments which test the properties and strengths of the concrete with the aggregate substitute. Basically, the standard tests for a conventional concrete are used for the experiments. The results are tabulated and plotted into a graph, and then compared to the properties of an ordinary concrete such as strength, weight, workability, durability, and cost. 1996-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/9682 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Polyvinyl chloride Waste products Aggregates (Building materials) Concrete--Testing x1 PVC (Chemical)
