Dilodilo, Melissa M. Tad-y, Gabrielle Kaye M. Cu, Ryan Jared Y. The families of substances-dependent individuals play an integral part as they go into the process of recovery. Studies also showed that such situations have an impact both on the family as a whole and on each of its members. Through case study analysis, the study looked into the experiences of the families of substance dependents who had undergone rehabilitation. One-on-one semi-structured interviews were conducted with each member of three families who had a member who was rehabilitated for substance dependence. Narrative analysis was used to process the gathered data. The study found that the family experiences many changes and challenges throughout the experience of having a substance-dependent member who went to rehab. A common change found in all three families was the changes in the relationship among family members. On the other hand, no challenge was present in all three cases, but conflicts between family members, communication problems, and trust issues were apparent in two out of the three families. The coping strategies used by the families and the members were varied however, the most common was seeking support from others, which was identified by two families. 2016-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/9756 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Problem children Substance abuse Rehabilitation Substance abuse--Rehabilitation Dysfunctional families Dysfunctional families--Evaluation |
