Description
Summary:The Visit is a short feature about a young girl's journey in finding herself amidst the process of making a crucial decision that will change her life forever. Grace, a 24-year-old rape victim, was faced with a crucial trial where she had to decide whether to abort her child or not. Grace was a vey timid, weak spirited woman who was always afraid to take risks and to speak her mind. Her frailness and indecisiveness was a result of being the only child in her family. Because Grace was raised as an only child in a well-off family, she grew up to be highly dependent on her parents. She didn't know how to make decisions on her own since she has always been used to having everything conveniently laid out for her. However, when both of her parents died in a vehicular accident, Grace was forced to live on her own. Though her aunt took her in and provided her shelter, Grace had no one but herself to rely on. Going out to the real world to find a job became a great challenge for her. Bigger trials came along her way when she met her old friend Philip during a job interview. Philip asked Grace out on a date and took advantage of her after getting her drunk. Grace eventually got pregnant and contemplated abortion because she knew that she was not ready to sustain a child on her own. She eventually decided on pursuing the abortion, but just before the procedure, she was given a rare opportunity by an old woman to meet her future self who had the abortion. As Grace visited her future self at 76 years old, she realized that she will live an unhappy and unfulfilling life full of regrets if she will push through with the abortion. She also saw how her future self-regretted not doing the things she had always been afraid to do and how her indecisiveness kept her from taking risks. Old Grace did not reveal that she was from the past until her young self realized that she was only conversing with herself in a dream. Grace made amends with her future self and returned to the present as she woke up. She turned things right for her and decided to keep the baby. This experience helped Grace overcome her fear of taking risks as she learned how to let go of her anxieties that were holding her back.
