Detection and disassociation of rogue access points using Mac Spoofing (Mac and cheese)
As network technology improves day by day, network security should also be considered a top priority. This study focuses on the detection and disassociation of RAPs that are using MAC spoofing. For the detection of RAPs the system will utilize algorithms, including, but not limited to, frame sequenc...

Gepte, Arveen Y. Martinez, Raul G., Jr. Obuchi, Kiyoshi W. As network technology improves day by day, network security should also be considered a top priority. This study focuses on the detection and disassociation of RAPs that are using MAC spoofing. For the detection of RAPs the system will utilize algorithms, including, but not limited to, frame sequence number monitoring and location determination. For the disassociation of clients of the RAPs, the disassociation algorithm of black widow will be used. The system can detect MAC spoofing rogue access points in environments where it is to be implemented. It is functional in both empty and crowded areas. In order to achieve better accuracy, the system will filter out all the access points be it legit or rogue with received signal strength considered as low quality. Using these techniques, the presence of rogue access points can now be detected once the system is executed in the network and although it can use some improvements such as determining the exact location of the roque access points, it still plays a big role in keeping the network secure from users with malicious purposes. 2016-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/9885 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Computer networks--Security measures |
