In the seventies, her famous restaurant, The Grove, was the first purely Filipino buffet and has been dubbed as the Mecca of Food Trippers (Yap-Daza C-3) and the Mother of Pinoy Buffets (Tayag F-1). Secret's From Tita Cely's Kitchen is a 160-page coffee table book that is comprised of the recipes and food-related stories of Cecilia Kalaw, a famed Filipino restaurateur. The book is divided into five chapters: Early Beginnings, Discovering Her Passion, Memories from the Grove, Travels and Ventures, and Settling Down, each has its own chapter heading, introduction, and spreads. All stories and recipes were written, high resolution photographs were taken and edited, and over-all concept and design were created by the proponents.
