Chemical analysis of water hyacinth [Eichornia crassipes (Mar.) Solms]
A study on the chemical composition of water hyacinth [Eichornia crassipes (Mar.) Solms] was done in order to determine its suitability as a raw material in paper manufacturing and as a substitute for wood in panelling. The water hyacinth stalks have a moisture content of 15.48%, a total ash content...

A study on the chemical composition of water hyacinth [Eichornia crassipes (Mar.) The water hyacinth stalks have a moisture content of 15.48%, a total ash content of 21.04%, an acid-insoluble ash (silica content) of 6.31%, a volatille content of 78.97%, a lignin content of 6.92%, and a total cellulose content of 76.83%. These results showed that the plant could be a potential panelling material but may not be a good pulp and paper material. 1990-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10013 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Water hyacinth Eichhornia |
