Summary: | Monthly water quality analysis was conducted in Sampaloc Lake San Pablo City, Laguna from June to November 1996. The physical parameters measured were temperature in C, depth in centimeters, transparency in centimeters and total solids in mg/L. The chemical parameters were nitrate content in mg/L, orthophosphate content in mg/L, pH, dissolved oxygen content in mg/L, total alkalinity and total hardness in mg CaCO3/L. Gross primary production in mg/L and phytoplankton cell count in cells/L were the two biological tests conducted. The Biochemical Oxygen Demand in mg/L was also estimated. Sampaloc Lake was classified according to the DENR Administrative Order No. 34 Section 68 as under Class C. Parameters like temperature in C, pH, and, DO content in mg/L are within the criteria set by DENR. The orthophosphate content in mg/L and BOD in mg/L are the only parameters that exceed the required amount for Class C. Sampaloc Lake is good for fish production since the primary purpose of Class C waters is for the growth of fish and other aquatic resources. |
