Datiles, Angelica Frances A. De Jesus, Francis Jerome N. The study attempts to supplement the effort of the government to rehabilitate the Pasig River. This river used to be a medium for commercial, transport, tourism and industrial activities. The study aims to improve the water quality of the Pasig River in terms of its physical, chemical and biological aspects through a theoretical application of an engineering technology in in-situ. Secondary data collated by the River Rehabilitation Secretariat (RRS) were used in the analyses of the Pasig River water quality condition as the basis for determining the most efficient and applicable wastewater treatment that will directly treat the cause of the river's deterioration. From the analyses, the Pasig River has been experiencing high BOD loadings, intense deposit of muck and very low DO concentration. Oxygen is needed to deteriorate BOD and muck. In the absence of oxygen, the decomposition is prolonged, anaerobic environment is developed, toxic gases are released and there is an increase in nutrient concentrations. Based on the findings of the study, the proponents recommended a diffuser type of aeration system which inverts and uniformly oxygenates the entire river, surface to bottom and shore to shore, at any depth, to stabilize the amount of oxygen needed to establish life in the river. 1996-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10016 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Water quality Water--Purification--Biological treatment Rivers--Aeration Pasig River Rehabilitation technology River engineering
