However, it is primarily a male-dominated sport ( Culture in the Philippines ). Support and recognition is most often given to men (West and Bucher 290-291). According to Emanuel Stuart of ESPN's Friday Night Fights, few people realize that there are female boxers who also compete in this sport locally and internationally (Mclean 2). Thus, we documented the life of Filipino female boxers in order to show how they strives for excellence in a male-dominated sport. This was done by intensively documenting the process that they had to undergo prior, during, and after the tournament. Specifically, we featured three women boxers from the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP). Different views regarding female boxers were also included by interviewing their coach, family, male sparring partners and other teammates as well. The study was created to give the viewers a broader perspective of what women can achieve in a society filled with stereotypes. To be able to make an intensive study on the subject matter, we, the researchers, took six months to fully documented the whole process of the boxers. 2006-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10066 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Women boxers--Philippines Boxers (Sports)--Philippines
