Summary: | A descriptive research design was used to describe the Filipino adolescent's experience of depression. Eight respondents were used in conducting the study. The respondents were composed of four males and four females belonging to the low socio-economic status, ages fifteen (15) to twenty-one (21), either working or studying. An interview method was used in gathering data. Data was analyzed qualitatively. Convenient sampling was used in selecting the respondents. During the interview process, the researchers used an interview guide composed of open-ended questions. The results revealed that most of the respondents' depression were family-related, stemming from relationship conflicts. Other sources of depression come from relationship conflicts, relationship with friends and romantic partners. Such conflicts in relationships that cause the lack of emotional support, thus, triggering depression. |
