All of us have goals in life. One such goal is to be able to earn money and to provide for your family. But before a person earns money, he or she, must work for it. If a person has autism, should that person be deprived of this goal? This study described the processes that an individual with autism went through in order to achieve employment. Non-experimental, descriptive research was employed for the present study to be able to thoroughly identify and describe the experiences of the individual with autism at work. An in-depth interview guide was used in order to thoroughly gather information about the adult with autism, and the working adult with autism himself, participated in the study. The information gathered was then compiled and analyzed by categorizing the responses of the sources into different stages: (1) childhood (2) adolescence (3) adulthood. In each stage, the social, cognitive, and behavioral aspects were analyzed. The results showed that, given proper training, the development of the social, cognitive and behavioral aspects of the individual with autism are reinforced. Also, the findings revealed that the parents played a vital role in the development of the working adult with autism. The attainment of employment of the adult with autism can be credited due to the manner in which the parents raised the child, education given to the child, and individuals who have supported the working adult with autism. 2001-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10201 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Autistic people Clinical Psychology Personality and Social Contexts |
