Calina, Vanina Ivy Grecia, Jojo Zamora, Alpha Dreams have been found to play an important role towards the understanding of the self. For the longest time dream interpretation has been an evaluation of an expert other than the dreamer him/herself, yet the researchers hold the fact that to arrive at a more meaningful understanding of dreams, a personal analysis must occur since dreams are ultimately about the dreamer's self. Thus the researchers aimed to describe the process taken by individuals in arriving at a personal meaning of their dreams, determine the strategies they utilized, and construct a dream interpretation model out of their strategies. The study employed semi-structured interviews with five female respondents from purposive sampling. Each participant disclosed two to three dreams. Transcribed data were qualitatively analyzed. The researchers found nine strategies namely, objectifying, intuiting, and weaving which are constant across cases, contextualization, reduction, self-designation, patterning, augmentation, reinterpretation, from which the Personal Interpretation Strategies (P.I.S.) Model was constructed. The P.I.S. is unique in that it incorporates the intuition. The process of interpretation is not time bound nor are the strategies with definite boundaries as to when they have stopped being used. This is due to the unpredictability of the time frame of interpretation which may range from weeks to years. The interpretation process is but a part of the process of self integration in aiding the self in it's growth and improvement. 2000-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10228 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Dream interpretation Human Factors Psychology |
