Summary: | Hydraulic Engineer are expected to provide storm drainage systems that will keep water flows out of the roadways. This is done by providing slopes in roads and collectors in the form of gutter and curb inlets. The analysis of gutter and curb inlets usually determines max. probable flowrates at different return periods however, the analysis does not consider the time rate of distribution of flow into the pipe system. Hydrograph routing is a suitable approach in analyzing flow at the road gutter and curb inlets response to the system design.
The study is focussed on a parcel of lot situated in Cebu City (extension lot of Cebu Business Park) which was analyzed at the road gutter and curb inlet for 10 year return period.
Suitable approach in analyzing flood at water inflows for 10 year return period was met after long simulation and routing technique were applied in every existing curb inlets at the roadway.
It is concluded that hydrograph routing at road gutter provides a more realistic estimate of flowrates on the curb inlets, considering the existence of roadway. |
