The need to maximize resources such as money and materials must be considered especially for large projects to maximize profit.
Quantity surveying, concerned with estimating, contract formulation and other function to provide developers in the country significant benefits and advantages is documented in this study. Survey findings among construction management firms and developers regarding the use Quantity surveying were reported and analyzed in this study. Three quantity surveying firms were studied according to their scope of services and some other aspects. Davis Langdon and Seah Philippines, Inc., one of the three quantity surveying firm studied, is the first and only firm who specialized in quantity surveying services in the country. The distinction between the services offered by quantity surveying firms and construction management firms in the country is presented. Most construction management firms offer part quantity surveying services like cost estimating. The extensiveness on the used of quantity surveying among developers were tabulated and analyzed. A small percentage of the total developers surveyed utilized the service of quantity surveying. The study covers the procedures of quantity surveying practice and methods used to address the need of owner. The role of quantity surveyor has been discussed in detail in this study so as to assess its contribution in the development of construction industry. |
