Summary: | Joints are crucial components in structures for it is through these joints the forces from the beams are transmitted to the columns. Failures occur not because of deficiencies in the analysis and design of the members but because of inadequate attention given to the detailing of the joints or connections. Hence this research was conducted.
The research centers on the testing and performance of nonstandard single corner reinforced concrete connections. The different connections varied in their reinforcement arrangements and presented a relative comparison of the behavior of the connections under static loading.
To be able to analyze the behavior of the different specimens, the researchers measured the deformations at various points of the specimen and took note of the different crack developments. From these data the researchers compared and contrasted the various behaviors of the specimens.
The research hopes to further the understanding and serve as reference to future academic undertakings regarding joint connection techniques and innovations. |
