| Summary: | Self-concept is the perception a person has about himself that is influenced largely by the society. The researchers then wanted to know the self-concept of the homosexual elderly and the circumstances that have affected it. The interaction of three variables was considered for the study: homosexuality, aging and institutionalization. The data obtained indicated that there are six factors that had affected the self-concept of the respondents their significant life events, past and current fears, values in life, sense of self, aspirations in life, and development tasks. It was also explained why the ill perceptions that the society has against homosexuals did not negatively affect their view of themselves. |
