| Summary: | The determinants such as degree of family cohesiveness and the parenting styles are considered in this study to cause a particular sibling relationship among young adolescents. Three tests were conducted to 100 pairs of parent and eldest child who are studying in one of the three private universities in Metro Manila. Results showed that congenial sibling relationship is associated with the enmeshed type of family cohesiveness while the hostile type of sibling relationship is associated with the connected type of sibling relationship. On the other hand, the permissive style of parenting is related to the congenial and hostile type of sibling relationships. However, the statistical analysis showed that there is no significant relationship between the determinants and the sibling relationship. |
