To determine the problems encountered by foster parents before and after the adoption of a child and the effects of truth of adoption to both foster parents and adopted child. The researchers interviewed twenty (20) foster parents and seven (7) adopted children. These subjects were made to answer the prepared interview questionnaire. The results from the cases gathered were: adoption by non-legal means were mostly done by the subjects the main reason for adoption was the incapability of the parents to conceive their own child. Others were humanitarian reasons, sex preference, companionship for real children, out of frustration, and for somebody to take care of them when they become old most adoptions were decided by both husband and wife all wives showed favorable attitude toward the adoption and a few husband showed negative attitude most parents and relatives gave no response to the move of adopting while others gave positive feedback and some negative ones. Most of the friends of the subjects gave no response while a few gave negative feedback more parents want to tell the child about the adoption and some want it to be kept a secret. Some have already told the child and a few children knew they were adopted beforehand parents plan to tell the child about the fact of adoption depending on the maturity level of the child from the parents, it is better to be honest and answer every question of the child, which is the proper way of telling the child the fact of adoption and last the source of the truth of adoption have an effect on the child, the child who knew she was an adopted was from her friends and it really hurt her unlike those who have learned it from their foster parents. 1981-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10347 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Attachment behavior in children Foster children--Family relationships Adopted children--Family relationships.
