Estrella, Elmer R. The proposed program for the evaluation of the ultimate bearing capacity of shallow foundations was designed to meet the demands of the civil engineering profession, especially in the field of foundation engineering. The computations involved in the analysis of the bearing capacity require a huge amount of effort and patience because of its long and very tedious process. Also, the work required in interpolating between values for the properties of the soil can be reduced because of the existing database used by the program. It was also designed to serve as an alternative to existing software. While most programs developed in the civil engineering discipline deal mostly with superstructures, little consideration was given to the substructure or the soil foundation. There are existing programs in the market but only a few consider the true nature and composition of the soil beneath the ground surface. The group was able to take note of this problem and proposed a solution in the form of a computer program that considers every foundation to have multiple layers. Moreover, a database was provided to help the users in defining the values of the soil properties using valuable boring data. The theories and assumptions used to develop the program as well as the procedures in using the actual program will be discussed in the succeeding chapters. 2001-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10350 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Foundations--Design and construction Anchorage (Structural engineering) Civil Engineering
