Summary: | Abstract. The purpose of this study is to describe the understanding and perception of punishment among Filipino children classified according to gender and socio-economic status. Pakikipagkwentuhan was the method used by the researchers in data gathering. The study was conducted to 30 nine year-old students selected through convenient-purposive sampling. The participants were composed of 15 males and 15 females from high and low socio-economic status. The results showed that punishment among Filipino children is given to someone who has committed something wrong and is given to children who are disobedient to their parents. The reasons Filipino children believe they were punished were because they had done something wrong and did not obey their parents. Anger and resentment or pagtatampo towards the parents are the most common effects after punishment. |
