Description
Summary:The software was developed using a Visual FoxPro to design three types of reinforced concrete retaining walls, namely cantilever, buttress, and counterfort. This software was programmed to be user-friendly and WIndows-based. The software allows users to input and edit data easily. The software allows the user to set the values of different properties such as the strength of concrete and steel, steel diameter, soil property, etc. that will be applied in the entire computation. The output screen of results can easily be understood. A hard copy of the results in the output screen can be printed. The strength design method (U.S.D.) was used in developing the software. ACI-95 was used as a reference. Provisions from the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP) Vol. 1 4th edition, and Vol. 2 2nd edition, were incorporated in the program. The software was developed to eliminate repetitive manual calculation in the design of retaining walls. A user's manual for this program is developed which provides flowchart for the design procedure and guide for the users. This program will be useful for practicing civil engineers in analyzing retaining walls.
