Four revelations of battered husbands.

The study seeks to shed some light on the lives that battered men live. Given what little we know about these men, and the fact that society has yet to accept such a reality, the study hopes to be an eye-opener for future studies. Among those areas focused upon were the physical and emotional characteristics of both the husband and the wife, the type of battering received, and the coping mechanisms employed by the husbands. The results were taken through in-depth interviews from four respondents. From the findings, a small profile of battered men was depicted. More than anything, love for their wife and children seem to be what holds them from hitting back or leaving the wife. Husbands are not the breadwinners for the family in these situations. Respondents showed signs of inferiority in the relationship, which can be translated as role reversal transpiring in the relationship. Their coping mechanisms seem similar though most of them release their anger when alone, and they also seek advice from family and friends.
