Description
Summary:The study was conducted to identify the expected personality traits of collegiate level basketball players, to get the actual personality traits and the effectiveness of the 2001 De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers, and to see if there is a correlation between perceived effectiveness and personality traits. To gather and and identify the expected personality traits the researchers interviewed three collegiate level coaches and three collegiate level captain balls. To obtain the actual personality traits and the perceived effectiveness of the team the sixteen-man line-up of the 2001 DLSU Green Archers (and their coach, for effectiveness rating only) were given the Sixteen Personality Factors, Harrison InnerView and a self-constructed Effectiveness Rating Scale. Results show (1) all the Green Archers are perceived as effective in their positions (2) majority of the actual personality traits exhibit high correlation with effectiveness (3) through the Sixteen Personality Factors Factor Q4 representing drive exhibited the highest correlation (r=-.529) for the primary position. For secondary position Factor A representing Participation (r=-.625). For Harrison InnerView traits it was Analyzes Pitfalls (r=.521) for the primary position and Flexible (r=-.584) for the secondary position, which showed the highest correlation to effectiveness. The study showed that personality traits are an important component for the effectiveness of the 2001 DLSU Green Archers.
