Summary:The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that contribute to the resilience of the Filipino poor who belong to 20-60 years of age. Content analysis was used to qualitatively analyze data from the interviews conducted. The results have shown the three factors which are: (a) Personality Traits and Disposition (b) Family Protective and Recovery Factors and Community Strengths specifically describing fifteen (15) descriptive categories which are: family, friends, religiosity, health, simplicity, leisure, humor, optimism, good relations, helpfulness, togetherness, damayan , resourcefulness, activities, surroundings, and goal-oriented contribute to their resilience. This also indicates that these three factors are seen and treated in equal levels by the urban poor. The fifteen categories which are: humor, optimism, resourcefulness, 'damayan', and being involved in activities. These characteristics enable resilience and develop the well being of the urban poor.
