Summary: | The research focuses on the development of an Embodied Conversational Agent System to be used as an aid in public health monitoring of Filipino children. It aims to fulfill the need for children to undergo routine wellness checks with a doctor in communities that may not have accessible, affordable, or quality healthcare. The research also aims to enable the use of the ECA as a culturally and age appropriate communication tool in routine wellness checks. The ECA system accommodates both health monitoring and consultation activities for Filipino children. The system covers the monitoring of key child health determinants and measurable features of Filipino children and basic consultation regarding common child health conditions. The ECA system developed is a mobile application containing an ECA, as well as other modules allowing for monitoring and consultation activities. The ECA communicates with the user, a child that may be assisted by an older individual, to monitor their health. The data collected by the system can be used to update medical records and generate Histories of Present Illness for patients. The research, including the developed system, is part of the GetBetter telemedicine system. |
