Description
Summary:The study explored the different living arrangements of selected Filipino elderly in relation to their experiences and life satisfaction. The data obtained from the elderly were accomplished by interview method, where participants were asked questions designed to uncover their experiences in relation to their living arrangements. A Satisfaction With Life Scale was then employed to validate the participants' perception of their life satisfaction. The themes that emerged from the participants narratives were used to highlight the common themes in the lives of the elderly. Results show that despite the diversity of the participants' home arrangements, similar themes emerged that pertained to elderly participants' feelings, day-to-day activities, and awareness about the realities of aging. The researchers were able to conclude that the elderly's perception of their lives contribute to their life satisfaction. The participants who reported positive experiences scored higher in the Satisfaction with Life Scale, while participants who recalled negative experiences scored lower in the aforementioned scale.
