Summary: | The study focuses on the job satisfaction and productivity flexible time and fixed time employees and the advantages and disadvantages of the two work time arrangement. Thirty (30) respondents from a flexible time company and thirty (30) respondents from a fixed time company answered the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire. Supervisors rated the employees productivity by answering a productivity questionnaire provided by the researchers. Results showed that there was no significant difference on the productivity but findings reported a significance difference in the job satisfaction of fixed time employees and flexible time employees. A focus group discussion was also conducted with several employees from each company regarding the advantages and disadvantages of their respective time schedules. Results from this FGD showed that fixed time schedule is more of an advantage than flexitime schedule which is contradiction to the related literature. The concept of collectivism was used to interpret the difference of the fixed time and flexitime groups. |
