It examines whether the cultural difference between the husband and wife causes conflicts within household matters such as parental roles, decisions within the household and child rearing. It also explores the culture observed by the family in terms of language, family practices and child rearing. The informants of the study were chosen through purposive non-probability sampling and consisted of 5 European husbands, Filipino wives with at least one child, all of whom are residing in the Philippines. All of the informants were interviewed face-to-face. The study revealed that cultural differences between the couples are not the only causes of conflicts. In fact, their disagreements are mostly caused by other factors such as personality and changes due to age. Disagreements between the couples are usually resolved by compromise or mutual decisions. The European husbands are usually the ones adjusting within the household especially within the household especially with their wifes decisions. The husband and wife do not incorporate their spouses culture with their own and the integration of the two cultures is usually manifested through the children. The children of the couple do not experience many difficulties as regards to the cultural differences of their parents. Instead, these allow them to be more open as regards to cultural diversity. 2011-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10555 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Families--Europe Filipinos--Europe International and Area Studies |
