The views and perceptions of both parents and the child on overprotective parenting will be examined by the group and will be guided by specific objectives such as identifying the behaviors of an overprotective parent, the reasons behind such overprotectiveness and the possible negative and positive outcomes that may accompany it. Other parenting style such as permissive, authoritative, and authoritarian parenting will be tackled in the study as well. A descriptive research design will be employed to gain a comprehensive insight into relative experience of the parents and child. Purposive sampling will be used to gather a total of 30 sets of participants, with 2 parents and one child in each set. The age range of qualified children for this study has been set to 14-21 years old. Within these 30 sets, 10 will be under the liberal-minded parents category while the other 20 will be divided in half and categorized under authoritative parents and strict parents, respectively. Face-to-face interviews will be the prospective medium for data collection and will thus allow the group to have a deeper understanding of the experience and insights of the participants. Along with the interview, the researchers will make use of a parenting style questionnaire and a self-constructed scale of show card to further validate the data initially provided in the interview. 2014-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10601 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Parental overprotection Psychology |
