Description
Summary:There are a lot of accidents that happen on the road. One of the causes of these accidents is the driver being drowsy while driving. Our group proposed a solution to this problem which is the Drowsy Driver Detection System, a system that detects and wakes up a driver when drowsy. The prototype mainly composed of a camera, to be able to capture images of the driver, a computer as an image processor, to be able to detect a drowsy driver and a vibrating chair, to be able to wake up the drowsy driver. For the image processor, the library that was used was OpenCV which is a library used for image processing. The algorithms used to detect if the driver is drowsy were based on the eye behavior and the frequent nodding of the driver. First is that after a couple of seconds of no eye detection, the driver is confirmed to be drowsy. And last is that after a number of frequent nodding, the driver is confirmed to be drowsy. The data gathered shows that the system was able to detect the eyes of a drowsy diver and was able to wake up the driver with the vibration. This confirms that the system can wake up a driver being drowsy while driving.
