Summary:Thirty Mesocricetus auratus (Golden Hamster) were treated with pure acetaminophen diluted in distilled water at 100, 200, 400 and 800-mg,kg bodyweight every other day for a duration of two months. Results showed that there was cellular swelling, sinusoidal congestion, and necrosis in the liver cells specifically the group that received the highest among of acetaminophen. The kidney showed minimal damage while no damage was noted in the small intestine in all dosages. This was due to the fact that acetaminophen is mainly hapatotoxic and is utilized in the liver therefore there was no damage on the kidney tubules and intestinal mucosa. This drug is dose dependent wherein toxicity to the body increases, more the drug is used-chronically thus it should be taken in moderation.
