Summary: | This Organizational Manual was created for Grace to be Born. Grace to be Born is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping pregnant women in crisis. Based on a communication audit that was done, it was found that the organization suffers from recurring problems between top management and their employees due to a weak communication of administrative policies. Roles and responsibilities have always been dictated verbally, leaving much room to misinterpretation and misunderstanding. Although the nature of the organization is well understood by all, how policies and procedures work, the definition of acceptable and unacceptable behavior remain vague. Due to the failure of the employees to understand their responsibilities and what the organization expects of them, top managements time is consumed on disciplining erring individuals.
The study was conducted to assess the best approach in relaying relevant information to the different members of the organization. Semi-structured interviews, participant observation, surveys and focus group discussions were methods used to gather more important data. Data gathered from these key participants were vital in validating the need for an organizational manual.
The Multiple Constituency Model was used as basis in the creation of the organizational manual as it states the importance of integrating the and vital information of an organization into one concrete tool. |
