Description
Summary:This research looks at one of the biggest misconceptions concerning the gay community that they can never develop intimate friendships with their fellow heterosexual men. It is understandable that this misconception is still held true given the sexual prejudice that is still prevalent in several cultures including our own. However, as this research will prove, the close friendships with gay men and straight men are very much possible and they do exist. In fact, recent studies have shown that societys attitude and perception towards gay men are changing and are gradually becoming more positive. Despite this, research does acknowledge the fact that this change is not one that is easily attained because as the study will also point out, it requires some significant cognitive change with respects to how people typically view gay men. The ideal is that people will start seeing gay men and the fay community in general as individuals and not just a generalized group. Only then can people start forming positive relations with them. This research is then an initial step to show how this can be done.
