Imperial, Maureen Isabel S. Wong, Clarice C. This study aimed to determine the predictors of academic procrastination, focusing on person and family variable. It analyzed how person traits such as anxiety and intrinsic and extrinsic motivation also family variables such as parenting styles, parents' education attainment, and number of siblings predicted the performance of academic procrastination of students. Participants were high school students (N=150) who answered the following scales to measure the influence of the predictors: Westside Test Anxiety, Parenting Style Index, Procrastination Assessment Scale-Student, and Academic Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation and Metacognition Scale. The researchers analyzed the data using correlation matrix, hierarchical regression and separately ran the predictors in a linear regression to know whether there is a significant interaction with academic procrastination and its predictors. Results showed that among all the predictors, one person variable, anxiety is the strongest predictor of academic procrastination (p=0.002). On the other hand, family variables were found not significantly correlated with academic procrastination. Teachers and parents can contribute to decreasing academic procrastination by intervening in the adolescents' self regulation. 2012-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10754 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Procrastination--Philippines Students--Psychology Personality and academic achievement Psychology
