Description
Summary:This study aimed to see if media types internet, movies and novels are predictors of romantic relationship satisfaction. There have been inconsistent results in previous studies up to date on whether or not such exposure to media has corresponding effects on the satisfaction of couples in a relationship. 195 young adults ages 18-25 took part in this study all of which are in a relationship to see if exposure to types of media predicts satisfaction. Triangular Love Scale was used to measure the aspects of romantic relationship satisfaction at the same time a self report scale was used to measure media exposure. Multiple regression was used to see if such media types are predictors. Results show that among the three types of media, internet is the only significant negative predictor of romantic relationship satisfaction aspects of passion and commitment but were also found out that it is not a predictor of intimacy.
