Description
Summary:This study aims to analyze the bond strength of High Strength Concrete greater than 69MPa (10.000psi). The findings in this experiment were then related to the existing formula for the development length of deformed bars in where, the bond strength formula could be extracted, found in the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP). The said formula has a limitation of concrete strength of 69MPa. With this, it was then made possible to determine whether the formula would also be applicable for strengths higher than the said value by the use of a universal testing machine for both tension and compression. Data from the said testing have been compared to their theoretical values by using this existing equation as basis for the theoretical values. Conclusions have been made by analyzing the comparisons made on the conservativeness of the equation as the concrete strength increases. At the end of this study a recommendation has been made regarding if the equation is still applicable for concrete strengths greater than 69MPa by comparing the level of conservativeness of the equation when the concrete strength is less than 69MPa as its basis and when the concrete strength is greater than the said value.
