Description
Summary:This study analyzed the surfing subculture in La Union particularly in San Juan and how certain aspects of the more popular culture of surfing around the world has shifted its form to suit the existing Filipino culture. Localism, which happens when local surfers claim rights to the surfing area they occupy, is one of the prominent traits of surfers. This study reveal that there is an absence of localism in La Union which makes its unique. Moreover, this is also the reason why Manila surfers keep coming back not only to surf but because of the local surfing community.
