Summary:This study established a research based definition of emo specifically in the Philippine setting. Included in this study are 10 self proclaimed emos which are enrolled in different colleges within Metro Manila. Given that this concept is relatively new, the definition formulated was rather broad, the definition focused on three different aspects which are: a genre of music, a set of attributes and a form of expression. Furthermore, an emo individuals common experiences were also dwelled upon in this study. The researchers dwelled on the participants reported experience and conclude that emos are commonly ridiculed and judged by the society. Nevertheless, these individuals still continues being emo and gives minimal attention to the negative comments of others.
