Description
Summary:This study explored the different gratification categories an individual gets from using Computer Mediated Communication (CMC). A self-made scale (Gratification Scale) was used to measure the gratification levels adolescents and emerging adults obtain from using SNS (Social Networking Sites), Chat, and Blog. Two hundred eighty-five (285) Filipino undergraduate students partook in this research. Results revealed that Interpersonal Relationship needs is sought more when using CMC. They are also more inclined to using CMCs with synchronous messaging services suggesting that speed in communication is a determinant of gratification. Moreover, the CMC with the best package, SNS, rates as the most gratifying CMC due to its completeness in features and services.
