Description
Summary:This study focuses on post-incarcerated individuals' self-perception of their identities during their reintegration period. The objective of which is to identify identities that post-incarcerated individuals assume during their reintegration experience. The researchers interviewed and transcribed data from six low to middle class post-incarcerated male individuals ranging from 22-50 years old. Data is then analyzed through content analysis which assessed three contexts of the post-incarcerated individual's life namely the context of their family, their neighborhood, and their work. There are ten identities which emerged from within the sample: Conflicted, Outcast, Provider, Beloved, Challenged, Donee, Kakosa, Scapegoat, Drifter, and Professional.
