Description
Summary:This study investigated on the situational factors and personality types that lead to aggressive behavior among fans of the UAAP men's basketball division. A qualitative data analysis was used for the interviews. A survey was conducted to 240 students, 30 from each of the eight participating schools. The top three most aggressive participants from each school, determined by their score in the surveys were interviewed. Results showed that the situational factors that trigger aggression are crowding, provocation, crowd reinforcement, identification with the team and rivalry. Personality types that possibly lead to aggression are bravery, angry, hostility and competitiveness. Like in previous studies, the results determine that there is a relationship between aggressive behavior and personality types as well as situational factors.
