Description
Summary:This study is about Facebook Use and the big five personality traits in relation to its 3 core dimensions namely: information, communication and friendship. The researchers gathered 317 young adolescent Filipino undergraduates to complete the Big Five Inventory and the Facebook Use Scale through purposive sampling. Based on the results, there were certain personality traits that were significant to each Facebook Use. Specifically, individuals who have high levels of extraversion and agreeableness are more likely to use Facebook for communication, individuals who have high levels of extraversion are more likely to use Facebook for friendship and finally, individuals do not make use of Facebook in order to acquire information. It is suggested that different personality traits may be influential in determining which type of Facebook core dimension is used.
