The perceived influence of fathers on the success of their daughters

This study was done to find out the fathers influence on daughters success as perceived by the significant other. The sample included 30 significant other, 15 were volunteered by the successful daughters while the other 15 were volunteered by unsuccessful daughters. A pre-survey questionnaire was used in order to know whether the daughters were successful or not. Data was gathered from the significant others perspective using in-depth interview. The data was separated according to whether they came from the volunteered respondent of the successful or unsuccessful daughter. Using content analysis, themes that appeared from the data were then categorized into traits, roles and treatments of the daughter. These categories were compared and discussed as to how they influenced the daughters success and lack of success. The findings indicate that there are similarities and differences between the traits, roles and treatments of successful and unsuccessful daughters. The differences between the gathered data from the successful and unsuccessful daughters highlight the influence as to why the daughters became successful or not.
