Ngo, Charles Jerick S. Tan, Mervinlee B. Twatwunnaphong, Nich T. Tracking field personnel attendance is a key factor in ensuring the continuous productivity and efficiency of a company or an organization in terms of time and human resource utilization. Though there are many ways that this could be done, various approaches still fail to address the issues of identity recognition consistency, data storage and security, data transmission reliability and identity fraud mitigation. To solve the problem faced in tracking field personnel, this thesis describes an automated system built with two main components namely the Client Node and the Data Sink with the objective of providing an effective solution to problems regarding identity recognition, data storage, data security, data transmission and fraud mitigation. In order to ensure that the system is working as intended, several tests were done to gauge the capabilities of its components as well as the system as a whole. The outcome of these tests exposed several constraints that are discussed in this thesis. Moreover, the notable limitations of the system includes the ability of the system to only process in a linear manner, its heavy reliance on the GSM network for data transmission and its storage limit. Although the system faced a lot of constraints, it is still able to address the problems it was intended to solve mainly because of the time-slicing and polling technique implemented in the system. For future work, it is recommended to use better hardware modules which can process faster or with parallel computing while having larger data storage. Furthermore, it would be best to choose a service provider with very wide and strong signal coverage as to prevent down time in the data transmission of the system. Lastly, given that this system is able to deliver data through the GSM network, the framework of its data transmission can be used as a platform of communication for remote systems 2014-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10936 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository
