Description
Summary:Trion Management Corporation, also known as TMC, is a company that imports and sells electric meters to electricity cooperatives throughout the entire Philippines. The administrative office is located at Unit 2307 The Orient Square Building, F. Ortigas Jr. Avenue, Ortigas Center Pasig City, while the inspection and warehouse facility is located at 88, Amang Rodriguez Avenue, Pasig City. The company utilizes specialized procedures and equipment to create high quality electric meters that meet the requirements of the Energy Regulatory Commission. The company's objective is to meet the standard time of the order to delivery process of 7 days for Luzon, 13 days for Visayas, and 15 days in Mindanao. During the period of January 2013 to December 2013, the company deviated from the standard by 5.02 days for Luzon, 12.77 days for Visayas and 31.13 days for Mindanao resulting to P608,118.43. After evaluating the probable causes of the problem, the following factors were Excessive Machine Setup Time (43%), Bundling of Orders (15%), Absenteeism (11%), Recalibration of electric meters (*%) and Late forwarders (1%). The proposed solution to improve the company's system including incorporation of the overtime for the position tester and also have the preventive machine maintenance on the daily work schedule, forecasting model with a policy to order from the supplier one quarter earlier, and the re-allocation of personnel. The incorporation of overtime for the position tester will address the root cause which is the excessive machine setup times. The re-allocation of personnel then addresses the root cause of absenteeism and the recalibration of electric meters. The computer payback period for the solutions is within 1.4 years. While the annual net benefit for all solutions after the investments period is P141,888.16.
