Vegetation analysis and biomass production in the lahar-affected area of Bacolor, Pampanga

Vegetation analysis was conducted during the months of June and July in the lahar-affected area in Barangay Cabalantian, Bacolor, Pampanga. A total of 17 species were observed and 9 species belong to the Poaceae family, 3 from Papilionaceae, 2 from Convolvulaceae, and 1 species of each Euphorbiaceae...

Ong, Anna Karmela V. Vegetation analysis was conducted during the months of June and July in the lahar-affected area in Barangay Cabalantian, Bacolor, Pampanga. A total of 17 species were observed and 9 species belong to the Poaceae family, 3 from Papilionaceae, 2 from Convolvulaceae, and 1 species of each Euphorbiaceae, Portulacaceae, and Mimosaceae Harvest method was done for the months of August, September, and October. Six species that were found in the vegetation analysis appeared in the harvest method and 3 new species appeared, Hedyotis corymbosa, Passiflora family dominate the studied lahar area, based on the vegetation analysis and their biomass production. Based on the June and July data for the vegetation analysis, the density, cover, frequency, and importance value of each species increased in July in comparison with that of June. Saccharum spontaneum, a grass and Calapogonium mucunoides, a legume had the highest biomass. Margalef's species richness index for June and July was 1.887 and 1.866, Simpson's diversity index was 0.269 and 0.255 and Shannon's diversity index was 1.581 and 1.807. Evenness were higher in June than July using Evenness indices 4 and 5. Passiflora foetida had the highest nitrogen concentration while Poaceae Unknown 3 had the highest phosphorus and potassium concentration. Samples of lahar deposits from the study site showed the following characteristics sandy texture, available moisture ranged from 0.50-52%, organic matter content ranged from 0.1488-1.3079%, total nitrogen from 0.0190-0.0762%, phosphorus content from 1.9733-10.7341 ppm, potassium content from 0.1068-0.3239 meq/100g. 1999-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10956 Bachelor's Theses Animo Repository
