Description
Summary:Wireless networks have explored onto the scene, and, in the aftermath, they have generated a great deal of confusion about the different types of wireless data networks. Basically, there are two primary types of wireless communications: Wireless Metropolitan or Wide Area Networks (WWAN) and Wireless Local or Campus Area Networks (WLAN). WLANs provide unique advantages such as fast and easy installation, a high degree of user mobility, and the ability to recover your investment each time a move occurs [DAVI1995]. This study has been able to enhance the existing WLAN final year project at De La Salle University. The ability to scale the number of client PCs dynamically as necessary, the utilization of a standard network protocol, the inclusion of Chat and FTP (File Transfer Protocol) functionally to demonstrate the system, performance enhancements, and the ability of the network to recover from data transmission interruptions, are some of the major improvements the study has accomplished using a different approach from previous implementations at the University. Having implemented the system, the proponents have also tested the system's stability and performance through experiments that also demonstrate the performance impact of implementing the other improvements included in this project.
