Work motivation of physically disabled workers

Work motivation is the conditions that influence the arousal, direction and maintenance of behaviors relevant in work settings (McCormick and Ilgen, 1980). The researchers intend to examine the work motivation among the physically disabled workers in the Philippines. The study concentrate on two work settings: socially mainstreamed and non-socially mainstreamed environments and try to confirm if they are significantly differed. The research is quantitative in nature wherein it utilized the Work Motivation Scale of Dunette, Campbell and Haken's (1967) Q-sort deck statements that was translated in Filipino by Alvarez, Holgado and Gonzales (1996) in their thesis entitled, Police Work Motivation and Morale. Chain referral was utilized in getting the participants. There were a total number of 122 respondents comprised of 66 physically disabled in the socially mainstream and 56 physically disabled in the non-socially mainstream. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used in analyzing the data. As a result, there was no significant difference in the work motivation of physically disabled workers by work setting.
