Summary: | In spite of vast researchers about member participation in organizations, little is known about parental participation in university organizations for parents. This study revolves around reported factors affecting participation rate of university students parents in De La Salle University-Parents of University Students Organizations (DLSU-PUSO) activities, validated through a survey with 149 respondents. Provided that DLSU's main concern is to identify factors affecting participation rate of parents, the findings reported that these factors were the respondents level of awareness about DLSU-PUSO, forms and levels of participation, communication habits and respondents preferences, and reasons for non-participation, to name a few. These were found to have an effect to further understand the extent of the problem. Moreover, the findings reported that more respondents were willing to participate in DLSU-PUSO's future activities than those who said they have participated in its previous activities. Lack of information about DLSU-PUSO was one of the more important reasons of non-participation reported by the respondents. Thus, there is an indication that if DLSU-PUSO fills the information lacking to parents, then more parents will be willing to participate in DLSU-PUSO's future activities. Furthermore, this study can contribute to future researchers about parental participation in the academic life of the students. |
