Ferrera, Roberto Paolo F. Lago, Felicia Erika Barbara O. In this study, the researchers focused on the Philippines concept of under-de-saya which is also known as ander. This can be defined by the continuous tormenting of a wife towards her husband. This can be done through different ways such as nagging and harassing an individual (Ang, De Jesus, & Ong, 2001). Ander also involves power in the relationship between two individuals wherein there is one who exerts influence and another who is influenced (Gerber, 1988). The researchers conducted 4 focused group discussions (FGD) with the intent to gain knowledge on social perceptions and different situations wherein this concept emerges in a marital relationship. The FGDs where conduced in both the urban and rural areas with corresponding socio-economic statutes of low and middle to know whether there are differences on their concept of ander.
